Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to speak on a very serious problem which is facing our country today. The problem of unemployment is becoming more and more acute day by day. Thousands of educated young men and women are wandering from door to door in search of employment. But they do not get any job. The main reason for this unemployment is the rapid growth of population. Our population is increasing at an alarming rate. But the opportunities for employment are not increasing at the same rate. As a result, the number of unemployed persons is rising continuously. Secondly, our system of education is also responsible for this problem to a great extent. Our education is purely academic and theoretical. It does not prepare our students for any practical work. After completing their education, they are not fit for any job. They only want white-collar jobs in offices. They do not want to do manual work.Thirdly, the slow growth of industries is another cause of unemployment. We have not been able to establish large scale industries to absorb the growing number of unemployed youth. The cottage industries are also on the decline. The machines have replaced manpower in many fields. Therefore, Sir, I suggest that the Government should take immediate steps to solve this problem. The Government should control the growth of population through family planning. Our education system should be vocationalized. Technical and professional education should be given more importance. The students should be trained in such a way that they can start their own business after completing education. Moreover, the Government should encourage small scale and cottage industries. More employment opportunities should be created in rural areas so that people do not migrate to cities. The Government should also set up more factories and industries in the public sector. If we do not solve this problem immediately, it may create a serious law and order situation in the country. The unemployed youth may go astray and adopt the path of violence. Therefore, I request the Government to pay immediate attention to this burning problem.Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to speak on a very serious problem which is facing our country today.
